“But the absolute has a second power, as it were a second formula or ‘period’ of expression: God understands and expresses himself objectively. God’s absolute essence is formal in the attributes that constitute his nature, and objective in de idea that necessarily represents his nature. The idea of God thus represents all formally or really distinct attributes, to the extent that a distinct soul or idea corresponds toe each. The same attributes that are formally distinguished in God are objectively distinguished in the idea of God. But this idea is nonetheless absolutely unitary, like the substance constituted by all attributes. Absolute objective essence is thus the second power of the absolute itself: one cannot posit a being as cause of all things, without its objective essence also being the cause of all ideas. God’s absolute essence is objectively the power of thinking and knowing, as it is formally the power of existing and acting.”
