Nieuw artikel van Henk Keizer in Tijdschrift voor Filosofie

Henk Keizer heeft er lang op moeten wachten, maar eindelijk is het eerste nummer van het Tijdschrift voor Filosofie van de jaargang 2017 verschenen of staat op het punt te verschijnen: de website van het tijdschrift meldt het nog niet, die van de uitgever, Peeters online Journals, toont het al wel:

Hier neem ik de samenvatting  over: Abstract : The important conclusion of this article is that essences of singular things are not eternal in the sense of being distinctive eternal modes, as is generally held by Spinoza scholars. Both the essence and the existence of singular things are eternal in the sense that they are comprehended in God’s eternal nature, that is to say, in the sense that they follow necessarily from that nature. The second conclusion is that the essence and the existence of things are inseparable. There are no essences of things when things do not exist. Another conclusion regards the meaning of ‘formal essence’. It is argued that the formal essence of a thing is the essence of a thing that formally follows from an attribute. It is not in any sense opposite to the actual essence of a thing. The formal essence is simply the actual essence of a thing that formally follows from an attribute.

Hieraan is duidelijk te zien dat Henk met dit artikel een zware knuppel in het hoenderhok van Spinoza scholars gooit. Binnenkort hoop ik nader op het artikel in te gaan
- nu gaat het me alleen even om dit nieuws.
Want 'nieuws' is het zeker: zo vaak verschijnt er niet een diepgravend artikel van een Nederlandse Spinozakenner over een aspect van Spinoza's filosofie.

Interessant is in voetnoot te lezen: "Dit artikel werd geschreven naar aanleiding van een discussie die in oktober-november 2014 plaatsvond op Spinoza.blogse.nl."
